  1. This video cracks me up! It’s sad though at the same time that so many of us have experienced this. I really like you mocking the whole “holistic” thing and the automated voice thing! This is really creative and your message afterwards is so kind! Thank you so much for sharing!

    1. Thanks so much! Although I tried to make it funny, I did put in a few moments that pull at your heart like the insurance company and pharmacy bits- or the doctors who only take a few minutes to make serious decisions- the musical I’m writing about mental illness is also a comedy but the other side as well- trying to use the gifts I have to spread the messages I believe like you do w your blog as well! We have to keep speaking up and we will make enough noise to be heard!!!

  2. Thank you for making this video.

Talking about stigma has been rough for me, mostly because it invites further stigma. I’ve met so many people recently who want to double down on the stigmatizing things they say instead of admitting that a simple change in word choice is better. How does one deal with that level of willful ignorance?

    1. Thanks so much for watching and supporting! The stigma is paralyzing, hurtful, and ignorant. It’s atrocious what some people say and how companies act. When people argue with me about this sometimes I do need to just walk away and focus on the people who want to do good and bring change. I know how frustrating it is and I appreciate that you are not staying silent!

  3. This is exactly how people respond, ‘don’t forget tomorrow is another day?” Same shit day at time. ‘When you wake things will seem brighter” . ‘ oh you seemed so normal’. The difference in physical illness to the invisible is undeniably wrong. Illness whether visible or not is still a bloody illness. Great work on this video. If anyone is suffering please talk, share never think we can’t see your pain as many of us at time felt it or feel it. If in the UK try the charity Mind.

    1. Thanks so much for this heartfelt response and for naming resources – I need to put ones up for the U.S. on all my posts- will do soon – need to get recommendations for right resources- (you never know w the Internet!) thanks again! I’m sorry you’ve had to deal with this crap! Ugh! Like I said, I know all these situations firsthand. :-/

      1. Oh my gosh! Thanks SO much! I am so glad a therapist watched and I didn’t offend- when I write scripts I make fun of everyone AND myself as well- I can be a little like the Petal character πŸ˜‰ I think laughing is so therapeutic- many of these situations actually left me in tears but raising awareness (and being ridiculous) helps heal! Thanks again!

  4. This is really hilarious! It’s awful that all of us have undoubtedly met one or more of these people in our lives and heard the things that “they” said in the video, but you did a great job bringing levity to it all and not just showing how ridiculous some people can be, but how the stigma of it all is still very much there. Also, the mannerisms you had down for the video were absolutely on point and had me laughing the entire way. And the message at the end was a great addition! Outstanding!

      1. I don’t know how much time you spent on that (writing it, filming it), but whatever it was it was worth it because it was extremely well done! It really is awesome like you said!

  5. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ omg ” God doesn’t want you to be depressed, the demons are trying to possess your mind” haha if I had one dollar for every time I heard this, I’d be the worlds wealthiest woman by now. I believe in God, I just wish people would stop with this nonsense about “praying the depression away” God isn’t some kind of vending machine where you put quarters in and out comes what everything we want. And this new age stuff, was so on point lol. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ This was fantastic, I don’t think I’ve laughed so much lol. You must be like the most awesome person to hang out with! Lol

    1. Omg! I’m so silly! Hahahah yes i believe in God as well and am a liberal Christian- but people judging people w mental illness saying their faith isn’t strong enough and it’s the devil taking them over are doing harm! Let the doctors handle this one! Thanks, peach! You’re such a GEM! πŸ˜˜πŸ’ŽπŸ’ŽπŸ’ŽπŸ’ŽπŸ’Ž

    1. I had one that always was checking the time and ending 5 mins early to be sure we didn’t go over 45. I only saw her twice. She also was a little over the top about making sure she would get payments- I totally understand it’s her work and income, but she had no reason to be overbearing about it – I have insurance and and she had my debit info for copay. Thanks so much for the feedback! Means so much!

      1. Yesss mine did the same thing… all the time, with the time and the payments. I too understand it’s your job, but if you’re in that profession I would hope you would have some compassion! And you’re so welcome, thank you for taking the time to reply to my comment!

  6. Wow, I think over a period of 20 years I’ve heard so much of what you made parodies of. I was so low in Jan of 2015 and have not reached out for counseling in yrs b/c I have had similar experiences.. anyhow I did and I was told the waiting list is about a year (ok so if my toe was half severed would I have to wait a year???!!). Anyhow, it calmed a bit and now it’s back full force- anxiety and depression and I still can’t get into counseling. The way you ended this video gave me tears. We are not alone, however the stigma is still strong and it’s what.. 2015?! Thank you for sharing this.

    1. I am so sorry to hear of what you have had to go through to get the care that you deserve. It breaks my heart! I can’t fathom how heartless and cold the system can be. Keep fighting for yourself- you deserve the best care. I’ll be thinking of you and sending love! You should not have to wait for counseling- that’s crazy!

  7. Outstanding! “I have a passion for helping …rich people.” “We are willing to cover $10 of the $1000.” This was so funny it hurts. Or maybe because it hurts, this is so funny.

You did a great job on this. Thank you for sharing!

    1. Aw, thanks girl! I feel like laughing at them helps me feel better about those moments- I always think people will know better but just recently someone said something like this! Lol now I can just think… Hmm I can put them in my next video! Hehehe πŸ˜…πŸ˜ also I realize not everyone “gets it” and that’s ok- we just need to spend time w those who do and ignore the haters! ❀️❀️❀️

  8. Just thought of you and this post when I was talking to my brother about something and he didn’t understand and said, “Does [enter my therapist’s name here] know about this?”. Just because something doesn’t make sense to someone, doesn’t mean it’s stupid or that it doesn’t make sense to me!

  10. I feel a bit like Alice in Wonderland watching this video. I have depression but I have never met any of those people (I have met extremely unempathetic office staff). I guess I’m lucky not to have encountered this, (of course they are lucky to, I can’t keep it off my face when I think someone is a complete and total moron.)
